19/01/2013-20/01/2013

Didn't get up too much yesterday but hopefully that should be picking up soon, so anyway, like I say I didn't do much except watch 8 hours of rugby and then a bit of cricket, so that was pretty good, for me anyway. One other positive occurred which was me and my parents are known for not getting on too well and for the first time in around 6 months, we actually managed to talk without, shouting or getting annoyed or someone walking off annoyed. Today was pretty standard for a sunday waking up to a nice cooked breakfast, then watching a bit of the football, then we visited my step-dads parents, who I get on with but can't be with them for more than a couple of hours, for selfish reasons that they're attitude toward others annoys me with their racist remarks and always talking dirt on people. Finally we all had a nice team effort roast dinner for the first time since christmas because we all work all strange hours even with me being off work for so long. So anyway until tomorrow night, stay positive and click follow @BePositiveAday.

There was heavy snowfall all through the night so we awoke to find the garden covered in snow, which allowed my niece to play and make snowballs, it also allowed me to attempt to make a snowman but unfortunately I get bored very easily and made what resembled a soccer ball then proceeded in kicking it around the garden to see if it would collect more snow, unsuprisingly, it didn't it just broke so that ended that. Fortunately to warm us up we had moussaka for tea, but my mothers diet version. Also I decided on going back to college to redo my A-levels and spent most of the day e-mailing colleges to arrange meetings with various subject teachers. Remember to check again later for today's entry, stay positive and follow @BePositiveAday on twitter.

16/01-17/01/2013

Finally got better from whatever it was I did have meaning thankfully it wasn't Weil's, so I've been a bit more active the past couple of day's, managing to finally get all my washing and cleaning done, and I've gone back to eating properly today and will probably be able to go back to my supplements and the gym soon as my knee isn't in as much pain at the minute. Looks like I'm going to get some deep snow tonight so in case the power gets knocked out by the snow, like it has done every year, stay positive.

13/01-15/01

Apologies again for my lack of activity but for over 48 hours I've been either permanently asleep or unable to move with what is at best the flu but I've been told by the doctor to keep an eye on it as there's a chance with me capsizing on the river on saturday that it could be a disease worst feared by watersport enthusiasts known as Weils disease which has symptoms at lot like flu but could have serious consequences, so sunday was the last day where I was not permanently under my duvet and to be honest i can't really remember much about it, yesterday I finally managed to catch up on all the sleep i've not been getting as I slept for almost 24 hours and today i've been feeling slightly better but still not my usual self and managed to finally eat some food, I'll try to keep his and the twitter as up to date as I can but it could be a couple of days between posts depending on how i feel so don't think i've given up and remember to stay positive

12/01/2013

Seeing what happened yesterday and with me being out all day today I thought I'll do today's post now as I'm still awake, I've been looking forward for today since I heard about it, my first time in almost 2 years canoeing. To some people that might not seem big or important, but I live for watersports, the only bad thing about them is It's always an early start (early for me). Even though I was in a Canadian Canoe instead of my playboat as my knees won't bend as much yet as they need to to get into my kayak, I managed to have fun and even have a bit of a play. The first part was the hardest for me because of how technical canoe strokes are to kayak strokes, well you've only got a single-bladed paddle, and getting back into my rhythm, once I got that sorted I was fine. The first fun was a weir just downstream of put in, and even though It's nothing like ones I've been down in my kayak I've never done weirs in an open before, but a 50cm weir you were over it before you knew what happened, the second weir was when everyone had a laugh as I wasn't sitting just right in the canoe went down the weir and went for a swim, but in true style of mine I swam to the bank, looked at my audience (sorry, fellow paddlers) and couldn't help but say 'They could've ran the hot water for a bit longer' and after that I was like I'd never been away, found a nice small rapid to practise my ferry-gliding and breaking in/out and even managed to do the unthinkable and surfed a standing wave in a 16 foot open boat. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as fun but less tiring, if you've never been kayaking/canoeing before and didn't have a clue what I was on about I apologise but I seriously recommend trying it, so until tomorrow check out the twitter @BePositiveAday and stay positive.

11/01/2013

Just realised that I hadn't done a post for yesterday so, apologies for that, so yesterday was just my typical friday, woken up early by my niece as normal, I went back to the doctor to see if he could give me anything to help me sleep at night and he said he would'nt want to but did give me some tips for how to sleep better so I'm going to start trying them out, also the youth group that I help out with has started again and it went as could be expected when we only had 3 staff members there and around 15 kids all running around in different rooms but i did get told about aome more canoeing/kayaking weekends and also that they are going to start encouraging them to do some more music so I was asked unless I was in work could I help them out with that as I'm the only one who's musical. Today's post will either be up later or early tomorrow as I've been out all day so quite a bit to write, until then check out @BePositiveAday on twitter and remember to stay positive.

10/01/2013

First of all I can't believe it's over a week since I started doing this and it's still going, so today was a bit of a chillout day and a chance for me to check all my canoeing gear for the weekend, fortunately I'm not using my kayak but using someone else's canadian canoe as I'm going for my intermediate qualifications in an open boat and although I've done a couple of big trips already in one (almost 200 miles the biggest) I need more practice on moving water, so I haven't had to do my usual checks on my own boat to make sure my airbags are fine, my foam footrest is still in place and my backrest ratchets arent cracked, one piece of good news is that my new surfing wetsuit can be used all year round so hopefully I won't have to wear too much over it to stay warm and I'm not planning on swimming on such a small river as the mersey canoe trail so it should be all good, and it will be the first time I've been on a river in almost 2 years so hopefully won't take that long to get back into it. Anyway make sure to check us out on twitter @BePositiveAday and on facebook at facebook.com/1PositiveEveryDay and stay positive.

09/01/2013

Apologies for not doing this last night but I went to sleep early, so yesterday was my step-dad's mother's birthday, and for someone with as serious a medical condition that she has, she was looking well and wasn't getting out of breath as much as usual, some bad news was that the fast-track to uni course I was wanting to do won't be running this year but it could be worse as it means I'll just have to go back to college which is alright as it will give me chance to meet new people, the last major positive (for me anyway) was that we finally cooked and ate the last christmas pudding we had in the house so my challenge today is to finish it off, hopefully I'll be able to update this tomorrow until then check us out on twitter @BePositiveAday and stay positive.

08/01/2013

So today was pretty standard, just learning some new tunes on my guitar, playing on the xbox etc. but there were a couple of good things that happened, I've got an appointment with my gp on friday to try and get either stronger painkillers or sleeping tablets, also I've got an appointment to see work's occupational health nurse at the end of the month, which means that if they declare me unfit to work in the warehouse but fit to do jobs that aren't as tasking physically work will have to find me full time hours on another department to fulfil the terms of my employment contract, so hopefully it means I won't be off work for more than the 3 months I've already been off for, also I went swimming for the first time since I used to race so it was a bit weird wearing normal swim shorts instead of my old fastskin style jammers, it was however the first time I've confident in a pool with people looking at me as last time I weighed 10.5st (66kg) and now since I going to the gym to attempt to start playing rugby as a Openside Flanker/Number 8 so to play senior level I needed to gain a lot of weight and I'm now even after losing almost a stone and half being unable to lift around 12st 4lb (roughly 78kg) so where before it was sort of look at people laughing at me for my size (very slim) now I've sort of gone back to my old rugby playing build I couldn't care less what people think of my body, if you like it then good, if you don't i'm not too bothered, so when i was competing in competitions inc. one regional meet I was always placing and won team medleys with me swimming the backstroke leg, so I must have been pretty fast but now even with only one leg which works I've gone faster without as much effort or getting used to my breathing rythms again. That's Today summed up for you tomorrow is probably going to be more boring and more painful after the abuse my knee got today in the pool with me practising my old breastroke turns, but don't forget to check in as even I don't know what I'm going to do next half the time, in the meantime head over to @BePositiveAday and remember to Stay Positive.

07/01/2013

So one week into 2013 and still positive about the year to come as I can see some big positive changes on the horizon for me, going back to college and will actually get the qualifications this time around. So back to today for the time-being, I've spent the whole day waiting for a parcel to be delivered, to find out it's not getting delivered until Friday now but in my current health I wouldn't have gone out anyway so I spent a few hours looking at colleges and universities even though it's a bit far off, looking at doing either business or nursing (and suprisingly as a 20yr old male I'm happy to admit it), as I've been doing the same job for 3 years now and there's very few career opportunities that come with it, so back to the point positives of today well, looking at colleges was one of them, making gammon, it's not hard but I'm not known for cooking normal food without many ingredients and spices, being able to lie around playing on my xbox (positive for me I rarely get any time when I'm working full time) and I've been told now that if I see an OT in work, they have to fulfill my contract on other departments as I'm obviously still not fit to work. Tomorrow should be interesting, if not fun, as I'm going swimming for the first time in years in hope that light exercise might help me speed the recovery up as long as I don't go overboard, so until tomorrow. Stay Positive and if you're on twitter follow @BePositiveAday where we post quotes videos and sometimes just our own thoughts to make your day a little brighter.

06/01/2013

Let's start of on a positive note for today, I actually managed to get some sleep last night after taking painkillers before going to bed so for the first day in weeks I've not been at all tired, also seeing as I can't go out or do much at the minute I've spent another day with my leg up and watching sport, but even that depending on how you think can be a positive, how many people can say they've been able to watch sport all day, starting with the highlights of last nights cricket, then todays cricket between India and Pakistan, and finally watching the rugby between Exeter and London Wasps. Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more interesting as I'll be having another go at fixing my wingmirror and should be able to spend all day on it. In the meantime don't forget to click like on the facebook page I mentioned yesterday and follow us on twitter @BePositiveAday. So until tommorow then, and remember to stay positive.

05/01/2013

Thought I'd do today's post earlier than normal as I've been falling asleep all day after being awake the majority of last night, so I've actually done nothing other than watch t.v. today as I've been struggling to walk around all day, so today there aren't that many positives, but I suppse if I have to come up with something then it would probably be the fact that I've spent the whole day watching sport, ranging from the FA cup 3rd round to the Rugby Premiership, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more positive but in the meantime, why not go onto our facebook page or click follow on twitter to find out before anyone else when the posts have gone up and for Motivational and Positive think quotes.

04/01/2013

So today has been painful on 2 accounts, first of all the usual knee pain which is what is keeping me up again tonight and allowing me to write this without feeling like i'm missing out on sleep and 2nd of all thanks to the amount of press-ups I did yesterday my whole upper body is aching, there is a positive from this as although i'm not able to sleep i am able to wach the test cricket between Australia and Sri Lanka through the night live instead of waiting for the highlights tomorrow afternoon. As well as that i'm off work for another 3 weeks using my holidays up so i'm not using up all my sick pay, so 3 more weeks of doing diy mechanics to my car, listening to music, learning new stuff on my guitar and painting all my new models, yes i can be a bit of a geek but that's just who I am. also today I thought 'I tested my ability to do press-ups yesterday, so why not test my core out today so after 2 circuits of sit-ups, crunches, planks and many variations of those I wanted to see how many I could do continuous and got to 102 before i collapsed to the ground, so thats a major positive as even when i was in college and held the record in fitness tests for sit-ups the most I managed was 65, so that's today summed up as well as it can be, check in tomorrow and in the meantime why not check out the facebook page to help more people find this blog and stay positive about every day.

03/01/2013

Today wasn't too interesting due to spending most of the day in pain from my knee, however i did manage to start doing press-up circuits again since getting the all clear for my heart, and can't go to the gym until my knee has healed, and managed to do over 150 press ups in 3 circuits with 5 variants of press-ups

02/01/2013

So a couple of good things happened today, I fixed my car after it wouldn't start by replacing the battery, by myself, no point paying a mechanic to do it, got the results from an echocardiogram saying my heart was all clear, but the major one was finally talking to an ex after 2 years, to give you some background on this we met when she was part of a group I was teaching how to kayak and I got talking to her and we seemed to get on really well so about 4 weeks later we meet up, go for a wander and just talk and end up dating each other, a few weeks later due to a lack of maturity on my end and her being my first ever girlfriend even though I was 19 at the time, we break up, so me and one of her friends are still talking up until about February last year, and i never had the courage to speak to her, even though i wanted to try to get back to a stage where we could talk openly to each other, so after 2 years of wondering how the hell do I talk to her again i figured it out, the same way you start talking to anyone with a 'hey, how are you?' from there the conversation flowed.

2012 Review

So why don't I get started by summing up the past 12 months before starting to write about the next 12 months, the year started like any other year, party at the cricket club and the inevitable waking up hungover on New Years Day craving fast food, so with January came the plans to move to Newquay which never came to light due to monetary restrictions and I'm honestly happy it didn't due to what happened the rest of the year, so before I knew it February came around and to be honest it was a pretty crazy month, I joined the gym again as I was bored of being 10st nothing and almost 6 foot, I started going out drinking more with one of my mates from work, started going out with aforementioned mate's cousin, stopped dating aforementioned mate's cousin and started looking at cars to buy for my first car. March was pretty boring, although it was the last month in which i had to use my parent's car to drive to work mainly as every month going to work, going to the gym and sleeping. In April things got started with a bang withing the first 10 days I'd celebrated my birthday, gone to a 21st party straight after a 10 hour shift and ended up going into Wigan town centre, bought my car and collected it. May was nothing to shout about, I ended up finishing the month with a chest infection that could have saved my life (it will be explained later). Then July came and after training up my new boss, getting trapped in work underneath a roll cage that fell over and starting a new gym plan August came around which meant the annual surfing trip to Newquay, before that however i decided to drive to north wales for the day to visit the Boy's Brigade company i'm an officer with at their annual camp and after a 3 hour drive the fun began, starting with the staff vs lads cricket with me taking my usual position behind the stumps, then after some silly games it was time for me to return home, 2 weeks later after loading up my car and filling with petrol the 400 mile drive to Newquay began, one positive was i realised how many mpg my car got, It was the same as my first year, a few of the same people, same vibe, only difference was a new me 3 stone heavier and more confident for it, i met many new people and increased my friendship with the ones i already new. September was the sign there was worse things to come for my health, the pain in my ankles came back but the rugby started again so there was one positive. In November the pain in my knees from damaged cartilage came back worse than ever so the trip to the doctor was inevitable, when i saw him i got sent for a chest x-ray due to past ones showing fluid on my lung, and it came back showing i had an enlarged heart, and got signed off work so at least my christmas shopping got done before the usual rush, December came and went now we're where we are now the New Year.

New Year, New Way of Thinking

There we where in the run up to Christmas and New Year, saying the same thing that we along with many others utter towards the end of the year, 'I can't wait for this year to be over.' Every year we say the same thing as regardless of the positive things that have happened in the past 12 months, we always accentuate the negative, so as part of my New Years Resolution, may I add my first ever new years resolution, I've decided to try and accentuate the positives of 2013, doing this by every night writing one good thing (or more if there are more) that has happened during that day. Rather than just do this in a notebook or a diary I've decided to do this in form of a blog as it will be much harder for me to break as it wont just be me who notices I've missed a day, so there we are I hope you enjoy this as much as I know I will.
